Abstract

Purpose

The emergence of cryptocurrencies has tremendously changed the way of financial transactions around the world which has led to form distinct discussions in the field regarding its reliability. This paper aims to evaluate the published literatures on cryptocurrency identifying its growth, citation, prolific authors, journals, countries, active funding agencies, collaboration pattern and emerging research hotspots in the area.

Design/methodology/approach

Scientometrics and Altmetrics parameters have been incorporated in the study. Literatures covered from the Scopus database searching within “Article Title, Abstract, Keywords” with keywords “cryptocurrency” OR “digital currency” OR “bitcoin” OR “Ethereum” by limiting the time range of 2013–2022, English language and journal articles only. Total 6,107 documents have been identified. The further analysis and visualisation is performed using MSExcel, VOSviewer, Biblioshiny and Tableau. Another tool, Dimension.ai is used to identify the Altmetric Attention Score.

Findings

The findings reveal that the growth of research and citation rate hiked from the year 2017 till now. Elie Bouri is the top contributor, IEEE Access is the most prolific journal, China being the prolific country. Topics like Blockchain, Bitcoin, Ethereum, smart contracts, financial markets are emerging researched hotspots. The reliability of crypto market is still not clear because of its high volatility. The findings of the study will be more useful in the academia, subject specialists, research institutions, funding agencies, publishing agencies in decision-making.

Originality/value

To the best of the authors’ knowledge, there is no such study found considering both Scientometrics and Altmetrics approaches on cryptocurrency research with the selected time bound.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this study was to perform sentiment analysis and analyze the growth and popularity of Drupal, Joomla and WordPress on YouTube over a four-year period. This included identifying the most liked and commented videos for each content management system (CMS), ranking the CMSs based on the number of positive comments they received, and using natural language processing techniques to identify the top ten most frequently appearing words in videos about the CMSs.

Design/methodology/approach

The data for assessing the features of the videos of Drupal, WordPress and Joomla was extracted using Webometric Analyst version 4.4. with the help of the YouTube application programming interface key for videos on the selected CMSs uploaded from 2019 to 2022. The extraction of comments and sentiment analysis for the relevant videos was done using Mozdeh.

Findings

This study scrutinized 371, 234 and 313 videos of WordPress, Joomla and Drupal on YouTube. The findings reveal that there is a chronological growth of videos of the three CMSs in four years and till the present time, WordPress has the highest number of videos followed by Drupal and then Joomla. Regarding the ranking of highly liked videos, WordPress again wins the list with the highest number of likes in its videos followed by Drupal and then Joomla. For analyzing sentiments of the total comments extracted 123,409 for WordPress, 1,790 for Joomla and 1,783 for Drupal, respectively, WordPress receives the highest average positive comments followed by Drupal then Joomla. In top word frequency, the word “thank” highly occurs and viewers are asking for more tutorial videos.

Originality/value

To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first attempt for analyzing the sentiments of WordPress, Drupal and Joomla using Mozdeh software within the concerning period.

Abstract

Purpose

Gamification is an emerging technique of applying game elements to difficult and tedious learning activities to make them fun and exciting. This study aims to review the scientific landscape of the library’s readiness to adopt gamification with context to application in teaching and learning purposes based on computational tools. The present research also aims to study the growth of literature on gamification, to identify the most contributing authors, countries, affiliations and journals and collaboration status with different geographical settings. The study will also identify the most influential paper on the area with the highest citation and Altmetric Attention Score (AAS) as well as analyzing the keywords for locating the research trend in the subject area.

Design/methodology/approach

The study has adopted Scientometric and Altmetric approach by considering the research outputs of a decade (2013–2022) from Scopus database. First, the required data has been searched using appropriate keywords forming the search strategy by running title–abstract–keywords considering the limitation in the system. The exported data is systematically visualized for performing science mapping like the collaboration of authors, countries, organizations and co-occurrence of keywords using VOSviewer. For finding the Altmetrics score and Mendeley readership of the influential research works, the system Dimension.ai is further used.

Findings

The study found 928 records indicating an exponential growth over the years with total 2,750 authors. Samuel Kai Wah Chu from the University of Hong Kong, China, is the most contributed author. Spain and the USA are highly productive countries, but there needs to be a strong collaboration pattern among authors. It is found that gamification is widely applied in education discipline than any other. Some of the libraries have already implemented gamification tools for learning purposes in their services. The research on gamification still lacks social media attention and needs to be promoted more through various social media platforms for greater visibility.

Originality/value

The study explores the global scientific literature to identify the library’s awareness of implementing gamification tools in their services for teaching and learning purposes. As per the author’s knowledge, no such study has been conducted until date with such aims and objectives through the application of both Scientometrics and Altmetrics approaches.
