This paper highlights the integrative character of orthopedagogics. Quality of Life (QoL), as guiding the normative framework in orthopedagogics is explicitly connected with the framework of human rights and the capability approach (CA) in the quest for social justice and human dignity. The purpose of this paper is to question that how these three specific frameworks can cross-fertilize each other and result in the development of an integrated normative foundation for supporting people living in socially vulnerable situations.

This paper reflects on the question on how the human rights framework, the CA and the framework of QoL can be integrated in the support of people who find themselves in a socially vulnerable situation.

The core features of each framework are described.

To conclude the paper, commonalities and the added value of integrating these three frameworks are explored. By integrating these three frameworks, they could function as a shared agenda that gives direction to the daily actions of professionals, with attention for aspects at the micro, meso and macro levels. Each framework and their interrelatedness urge for an integrative approach of orthopedagogics where the strengths of different frameworks are recognized and used in order to support people in socially vulnerable situations to achieve a life worth living.

The history of the memory and commemoration of the First World War in British culture has long been the subject of academic debate. In particular, numerous studies have explored the significance of place, both local and national, to the creation and continuity of commemorative practices across the past 100 years. The current years of the centenary provide a particularly useful point of reference for exploring the development of cultural memory of the First World War in Britain, while the village of Ambridge forms a unique case study of local and national commemorative practices.

This chapter examines two forms of commemoration represented in The Archers, the episodic marking of Remembrance Sunday across a 30-year period from 1996 to the present, and the community’s engagement with national commemorative events in the centenary year 2014. It locates both these forms of commemoration in Nora’s (1996) concept of lieux de memoire, the key symbolic elements of community memorial heritage, and Hobsbawm’s (1983) definitions of invented traditions as those which are imposed upon communities rather than emerging organically from them. In doing so it argues that place functions as the key element of Ambridge’s role as a lieu de memoire of the war, in contrast to people whose stories appear as invented traditions, particularly in 2014. It concludes that the programme ultimately maintains its ability to function as a lieu de memoire across the period, not only for the community of Ambridge, but also for the wider national community of Archers listeners.

Influenced by evolutions in mental health, a meeting house, “Villa Voortman”, was recently developed. It is based on an integration of therapeutic community (TC) and psychoanalytical Lacanian thinking. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the position of Villa Voortman in the treatment continuum for dually diagnosed clients. Two research questions are addressed: how does Villa Voortman operate ? and how do clients perceive the Villa?

The first question was tackled by a personal account of the founders of Villa Voortman. The second question was addressed by a qualitative study using video-material of 19 visitors’ personal accounts.

The visitors mentioned three themes: social inclusion, personal development and equality. These aspects are further refined into sub-themes including the provision of “asylum”; the instalment of a warm and welcoming atmosphere; the focus on real human encounter; a permissive, supportive and “waiting” environment; a minimal but “good enough” structure; the necessity of a place where persons can develop themselves; the striving for social inclusion and future perspectives; and the support in becoming inclusive citizens again.

The value of the paper lies in disclosing the visitors’ lived experience. This is an essential part of shedding light on the “active ingredients” of support, In reference to the title, visitors nor treatment staff have “carte blanche” with regard to how support develops, as this is driven by the dialectal course of everything that occurs during the support process.

This chapter presents a novel method for using PechaKucha presentations to generate and analyze participant-generated video data. As a data source, participatory video (PV) differs from ethnographic or archival video by relying on participants to tell their own stories. As a presentation technique, PechaKucha produces six-minute-and-forty-second, narrated slideshow presentations. The slideshows or recordings from live PechaKucha presentations are a dense form of PV that is easier to code and analyze than traditional sources of PV. This chapter describes the procedures to capture and analyze PechaKucha-based PV and illustrates considerations for researchers who plan to use PV to gather data.

This paper provides a brief overview of research, knowledge and practice regarding Asperger's syndrome, an autistic spectrum disorder that has only recently been acknowledged by clinicians. The paper reviews our knowledge of the degree and nature of the impairments of social understanding of such individuals, especially their problems with making and keeping friends, perception of social and emotional cues, understanding and management of emotions, and ability to recognise the thoughts and feelings of others. Difficulties with communication and conversation skills are explained, as well as the person's tendency to develop areas of expertise and special interests. People with Asperger's syndrome have an unusual profile of cognitive abilities; some have signs of movement disturbance and some are extraordinarily perceptive of sensory experiences. The prevalence and aetiology of Asperger's syndrome are discussed briefly.

The paper aims to identify the major research themes in consumer financial services between 2000 and 2020, their relative magnitude and interrelationship, to identify which themes have been most influential and to map the evolution of the field and identify emerging and under-researched themes that are promising for future research.

The core methodology is bibliometric analysis based on keyword co-occurrences. A total of 1,227 articles extracted from the Social Science Citation Index, Emerging Sources Citation Index and Scopus are used in the analysis. Key outputs of the SciMAT software are the research themes, and graphical outputs are called science mapping (evolution of the themes over time), strategic diagrams (visual representation of themes in a 2 × 2 grid) and cluster networks (themes and connected themes based on keyword co-occurrences).

The findings show that customer satisfaction, innovation, corporate social responsibility (CSR), Internet and consumer acceptance were the main so-called motor themes in the study period. Furthermore, five areas for further research are identified and discussed: Issues related to technology; marketing and consumer behavior; markets and industry; product and service development; and branding.

Bibliometric research allows the researcher to process large volumes of articles covering a broad scope, leading to rich and insightful results. However, for greater detail and nuance, the authors recommend supplementing the results of this study with a more focused and thorough qualitative literature review for each theme of interest.

Bibliometric analysis is under-used in management research. The authors are not aware of similar recent work in consumer financial services. The main value of this paper lies in knowledge dissemination to a wider audience (including practitioners and researchers in adjacent areas) and providing a rigorous platform for identifying future research opportunities.
