Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to study a modular method for designing a paste filling station (PFS) for a coal mine (CM) to reduce the PFS’s input cost and achieve reutilization.

Design/methodology/approach

Modular design criteria for the PFS are proposed and a modular division (MDiv) model and an evaluation method are established. The correlation-strength matrix of the PFS parts expressed in the form of rough numbers is transformed into a fuzzy equivalent matrix. The theory of rough sets and the fuzzy clustering method are introduced for PFS MDiv. The evaluating method is established for the PFS MDiv scheme based on the principle of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation.

Findings

Taking a particular CM PFS as an example, the above method is used to modularize the PFS, and the optimal division of the PFS is finally determined via the above evaluation system. Applying this method solves the problem of high cost investment in the initial stage of PFS construction.

Originality/value

The theory of rough sets and the fuzzy clustering method are introduced for PFS MDiv. An evaluating method is established for the PFS MDiv scheme based on the principle of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation, thereby providing new ideas for PFS transformation and reutilization.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to analyze the speed characteristics of the water hydraulic axial piston motor. The speed performance of water hydraulic piston motor which uses water as medium is different from that mineral oil one.

Design/methodology/approach

To analyze the speed characteristics of the water hydraulic motor, the speed model of a swash plate water hydraulic piston motor is developed theoretically and a simulation model with AMESim is built.

Findings

The effects of clearance between friction pairs and input pressure on the speed are analyzed and compared between the theoretical and numerical models.

Originality/value

The results of the theoretical and simulation models both verify that the clearance of friction pairs is the key factor in the hydraulic piston motor’s speed.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to optimize the weighing control system and compensate weighing error for weighing control system of coal mine paste-filling weighing control system.

Design/methodology/approach

The process of the paste-filling weighing control system is analyzed and the mathematical model of the paste-filling material weight is established. Then, the back-propagation (BP) neural network is used to optimize the control system and compensate the weighing error.

Findings

Without the BP neural network, the weighing error of the paste-filling control system is more than 3 per cent, whereas after optimization with the BP neural network, the weighing error is less than 1 per cent. With the simulation results, it is seen that the weighing error of the paste-filling control system decreases and the accuracy of the weighing control system improves and optimizes.

Originality/value

The method can be further used to improve the control precision of the coal mine paste-filling system.

Abstract

The coal reserves overlain by buildings, water bodies and railways are estimated to be about 14 billion tons in China. Based on the concept of green mining, in order to save the unit energy, Double pumps in parallel forms of pumping are adopted in 0the paste filling of the pumping system. The optimal solution of the objective function could be obtained by taking the unit flow power of the pumping system as the objective function, using the quadratic polynomial by the least square method curve fitting and by the application of MATLAB. Thereby it is possible to reduce power consumption and increase the efficiency of the operating economy in the paste filling station.

Abstract

Purpose

With the widespread use and development of automobile, much attention has been paid to its security issues. So to ensure the driving safety, the automobile must be equipped with good braking performance. In the process of braking, the friction from friction pair causes continuous wear and tear of the surface of brake lining and increases the gap between break pairs, until the lining is not being used (Belhocinea et al., 2014); thus, it is very important to detect the lining wear rate.

Design/methodology/approach

This paper designed the automobile brake friction test wear rate detection system based on Labview.

Findings

Through the detect data, we find that the automobile brake lining wear rate detection system has higher detect accuracy, in the process of detection, the brake lining without the defects such as cracks and bulges, which shall effect the normal use, the lining has no remarkable scratch to disk friction surface, can completed meet the requirements of users.

Originality/value

The automobile brake friction test wear rate detecting system adopts the components of USB-9211 DAQ, optoNCDT1700 non-contract high accuracy displacement sensor, in addition the Labview software to complete the functions such as lining wear rate real time detection, data multichannel real time acquisition, display, and storage record, etc., and uses LabSQL to import the detecting data to Microsoft Access database, which can satisfy the demands of various customers. Moreover, the wear rate real time detection can reflect the lining’s wear regulation of different manufacturers and different material and provide a reliable basis for selecting the appropriate lining material and predicting the lining’s lifetime.

Abstract

This paper discusses the use of three-dimensional mapping software SolidWorks as a platform to build a parametric model of coal mine filling equipment and a model library of the equipment. The Solidworks software is used to create a near-realistic virtual environment to simulate and analyze the process of building a high-water filling station. In this way, designers can detect potential design flaws early and then optimize the design as much as possible before actual construction.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to explore China’s online wine market segmentation on the basis of the wine-related lifestyle (WRL). Moreover, this study can provide further understanding and reference about China’s wine market segmentation research, which is limited at present. This work can be helpful for those who want to do further research in the Chinese wine market. It is good for wine importers wanting to import wine to China to understand the Chinese wine consumers.

Design/methodology/approach

Survey data were obtained from a sample of 3,369 participants through cooperation between the College of Enology and the Yesmywine.com website. Questionnaire items included gender, age, area distribution, unit price, bottles consumed, drinking frequency, drinking time, wine-related knowledge, etc. Combined with the influence factors of the WRL, a structural equation model was developed. The data analysis, particularly employing principal component analysis, enabled the identification of five market segments.

Findings

Five distinct segments were identified within the wine market and designated as follows: wine official consumption type enthusiastic fancier; enjoyment consumption; fashionable consumption; and new, young wine drinkers.

Research limitations/implications

The research data were derived from Yesmywine, one of the largest online wine sale platforms. However, the impact of yesmywine is much smaller compared with Tmall and Taobao and Jingdong. In this paper, we can see that WRL is increasingly becoming a part of Chinese people’s daily lives, especially for the enthusiastic and fancier wine consumers, which is the official type of wine consumer. Next, an analysis of time series under the data of the near future years should be conducted to find the online wine segmentation market variation trend. Moreover, it is important to conduct cross-culture comparison between the Chinese and Australians. Brand positioning can be improved by better understanding China’s online wine market segmentation.

Practical implications

WRL segmentation is valuable for the wine importers and producers in west France, Italian, Germany and so on, as they want to develop China’s wine market and understand the mindset of Chinese wine consumers. The wine importers in China should focus more on consumers that enjoy wine along with newer and younger wine drinkers.

Originality/value

This paper analyzes a large sample (3,369) and therefore is useful for understanding online wine market segmentation and wine consumption behavior in China owing to China’s limited wine market segmentation literature. This paper is the first to use WRL tool to segment China’s online wine market. Moreover, the research data have reference value for those who want to learn more about China’s online wine market, as yesmywine is one of the largest online wine-sale platforms. It also gives some managerial implications for wineries and wine marketers that will be helpful to wine companies in understanding the emerging Chinese wine market and in enacting wine marketing strategies more effectively.
